UI Ranked Top 300 World Universities
Universitas Indonesia (UI) is ranked 292th in the world according to Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Ranking issued in June 2018. This position is occupied by UI along with two other universities, National Yang-Ming University (Taipei) and Beijing Normal University (Beijing).
With this, UI succeeded in maintaining its position as the best university in Indonesia in the field of Social Humanities, Health and Science Technology according to QS University Ranking for 7 years in a row.
In the ranking, QS measures the quality of a university through 6 indicators, namely Academic Reputation (40%), Employer Reputation (10%), Faculty / Student Ratio (20%), Citations per Faculty (20%), International Faculty Ratio (5 %), and International Student Ratio (5%).
This year, UI has increased significantly on the performance of “International Faculty Ratio.” This indicator shows the increasing number of foreign lecturers and foreign researchers who participated as educators for UI students.
Currently, UI has 617 lecturers and foreign researchers mainly from Australia, Philippines, Japan, and Malaysia. The number of lecturers and foreign researchers is considered to be influential in improving the quality of UI as an educational institution.
The subsequent performance improvements are seen in the “Employer Reputation” indicator. This indicator shows the increase in the satisfaction of the companies’ leaders towards the performance of UI graduates in their companies.
QS University Ranking is an official ranking that is used as a reference by the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education of Indonesia to measure the institutional quality of universities in Indonesia towards World Class University.
This year the QS conducted a ranking of 1,233 universities in 151 countries in the world. This QS ranking result can be accessed on https://www.topuniversities.com/university-rankings/world-university-rankings/2019.
Upon this achievement, UI Rector Prof. Dr. Ir. Muhammad Anis, M.Met expressed, “This achievement is evidence that from year to year UI continues to work as a locomotive of nation’s education that is able to compete with other best universities in the international world of education.”
