Legal Department of the Financial Services Authority (OJK) Goes to Faculty of Law
The Financial Services Authority (OJK) in collaboration with Faculty of Law, Universitas Indonesia (FHUI) held “Legal Department of OJK Goes to Faculty of Law” on Thursday, September 27, 2018, in Room E301 FHUI, UI Depok Campus.
In this event, the OJK presented the Head of the Department of Legal Affairs of the OJK Dr. Rizal Ramadhani, SH, LL.M. as the resource person.
During the event, many students were enthusiastic about the material presented about OJK. Dr. Rizal Ramadhani, SH, LL.M., gave an explanation of the material regarding the background of the establishment of the OJK and the history of the formation of the OJK to all participants.
OJK holds the task of regulating and supervising financial service activities in the Banking sector, the Capital Market sector and the IKNB sector.
Authority of OJK in handling Banking Crimes in administration through Supervision, in indications of Banking Crimes through Investigation, and in Banking Crimes through Investigation.
With the enactment of Law No. 21 of 2011 concerning OJK, the Capital Market and Financial Institution Supervisory Agency or Bapepam LK also merged into the OJK. The task of Bapepam was only as a regulator, while the task of supervision of financial institutions was taken over by OJK.
The law on OJK was formed with the aim that all activities in the financial services sector are organized regularly, fairly, transparently and accountably.
In addition, the existence of OJK is also expected to protect the public in the event of violations committed by financial services such as insurance and capital markets. The OJK budget is sourced from the State Budget and levies from parties that do business in the financial services sector.
