Streetlaw and Student Exchange 2018 Program
Universiti Malaya, 20 – 28 October 2018
The Streetlaw and Student Exchange Program is a series of activities consisting of Workshop activities, Tours in Malaysia, Legal Counseling at Tunas Bakti School and Bimbingan Jalinan Kasih School, and International Conference activities.
Upon arrival on Saturday, October 20, 2018, UI delegation was immediately picked up by Universiti Malaya (UM) representatives and escorted to the inn (NowHere Hostel) which was located near the UM campus area. On the following day, the UI delegation together with the UM delegation participated in the workshop where the delegates discussed Legal Counseling Lesson Plan that will be held at the Tunas Bakti School (STB) and the Bimbingan Jalinan Kasih School (SBJK). Then in the afternoon, the delegates went on a tour by visiting the Kuala Lumpur City Center (KLCC), one of the best urban areas in Malaysia.
On Monday, October 22, a welcoming ceremony of the UI delegation was held through the opening ceremony held by ALSA Malaysia at the Tun Mohamed Suffian Auditorium. Then after having lunch together, the delegates conducted legal counseling preparation activities for the Tunas Bakti School (STB) in the Court Room and ended the day with the Bowling Baseball Arcade activity at One Utama Mall.
Tuesday, October 23 began with the preparation of the delegates in legal counseling for Bimbingan Jalinan Kasih School (SBJK) at courtroom, then after lunch, the delegates went to School Tunas Bakti in which they carried out legal education with discussion the topic on Theft and for the last activity of the day, UI delegates visited Art Market, Chinatown, and Petaling Street as part of a tour in Kuala Lumpur.
On Wednesday, October 24, the delegates attended the International Conference organized by ALSA NC Malaysia at the Tun Mohamed Suffian Auditorium, then carried out Legal Counseling Training or Preparation for the Bimbingan Jalinan Kasih School (SBJK) in the Court Room. To end the day, the delegates toured the campus by visiting the DTC and attending the Universiti Malaya Convention Festival (FESKUM).
On Thursday, October 25th, the day was started with the implementation of legal education in the Bimbingan Jalinan Kasih School (SBJK) on the topic of Extortion and continued with Mock Trial activities, where the delegates invited legal counseling participants (SBJK students) to hold a trial simulation. Then the delegates prepared again for the Tunas Bakti School counseling in the Court Room. Evenings were spent with Fun Fair activities and dinner at Kajang.
On Friday, October 26, the delegates conducted Mock Trial again for Sekolah Tunas Bakti (STB) at Moot Court A on the topic of Theft. The day continued with a trip and tour to Putrajaya.
The Student Exchange Program was concluded with a tour on Saturday, October 27, 2018, coordinated by ALSA to Malacca. The delegates were picked up from seven o’clock in the morning, and the tour to Malacca which lasted until evening. The next day the UI delegates returned to Indonesia.
