Prof. Fachri Bey, Ph.D. Becomes A Guest Speaker in “International Conference and Course on Victimology 2018”
Prof. Fachri Bey, Ph.D became a guest speaker at the Annual Meeting of the Indonesian Victimology Lecturers Association (APVI), “International Conference and Course on Victimology 2018” at the Wyndham Hotel Surabaya on November 26-29 2018. In this conference Prof. Fachri Bey, Ph.D explained about Developments of Attention to Victim.
The meeting was organized by the Faculty of Law, University of Surabaya (UBAYA) in collaboration with APVI (Indonesian Victimology Teachers Association), and the University of Hang Tuah (UHT).
Over the past few decades, studies of victims have evolved. This has changed the traditional concept of victims only from people who “witness, report, or suffer crime” into “emancipation people who stand for their own rights.” However, where victims stand today and in the future there are still large questions that need to be overcome.
The study of these fields will not stop developing. The great dynamics of society and the development of crime throughout the world spurred with technology have given rise to a new phase of victim studies. Various crimes that use many modern aspects of human life face new questions and new problems for the concept of victimization and the identity of the victim itself.
This problem requires a factual response from the perspective of researchers and practitioners so that victimization can be a vulnerable tool for establishing a victim-oriented regime in the criminal justice system.
Therefore, this International Conference on Victimology involved various groups ranging from legal experts to researchers, practitioners, victims, academics, etc.
