Obituary: The Passing of Dean of FHUI Prof. Melda Kamil Ariadno, S.H., LL.M., Ph.D
Dean of the Faculty of Law, Universitas Indonesia Period 2017-2021 Professor Melda Kamil Ariadno, S.H., LL.M., Ph.D, passed away on Wednesday, February 27 at 08.00 WIB due to illness.
Prof. Melda Kamil Ariadno, S.H., LL.M., Ph.D was Professor of International Law at the Faculty of Law, Universitas Indonesia. She until currently served as Dean of the Faculty of Law, Universitas Indonesia and Chair of the Institute for the Study of Sustainable Marine Policy.
She obtained a Bachelor of Laws degree from Universitas Indonesia in 1992. Later, she obtained her LL.M. and Ph.D from the University of Washington in 1995 and 2011. Prof. Melda had been an expert or expert staff for a number of government agencies, including the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries.
In addition, Prof. Melda was one of the best graduates from the Faculty of Law Universitas Indonesia batch 1987 and was appointed as a valedictorian on behalf of the graduates at that time. The winner of the Most Outstanding Student (Mapres) the Faculty of Law Universitas Indonesia (FH UI) in 1991 managed to graduate in 4.5 years, a rare achievement in her generation.
Before serving as the Dean of FHUI, this SMAN 34 Jakarta Alumna served as the Head of the Universitas Indonesia’s International Office.
Prof. Melda was buried in Pondok Labu Public Cemetery.
