Not Only Become Lawyers, Law Graduates Can Also Be President
Many people still consider that Law graduates generally will only become a lawyer or notary. Though the fact is not so. There are actually a lot of career paths that can be taken by law graduates.
Even according to Professor of International Law Universitas Indonesia, Hikmahanto Juwana, law graduates can become a leader of the country.
“In the United States, many law graduates became president. Because they must be smart and good at conveying arguments,” he said when asked by Kumparan on the sidelines of the press conference ‘Freeport Divestment ‘, Saturday (7/28).
Additionally, the youngest Professor of International Law also said that Law graduates could pursue careers in a company, become a diplomat, to reporters.
“Because journalists in charge of legal news must have law education background at least,” continued Hikmahanto.
Even if he chooses a career as a prosecutor or judge, Hikmahanto added that Law graduates must pursue further education.
“It is not enough with only a law degree.” They (Law graduates) must follow further education again because it is required by the profession,” he added.
Hikmahanto Juwana is one example of successful Law graduates. The man who was born on November 23, 1965, had obtained the title of the youngest Professor of International Law in 2002. His choice to become a lecturer was decided after he entered the Faculty of Law, Universitas Indonesia (FHUI) in 1983.
“Because the highest rank of a lecturer is professor, of course I’m looking up to that dream,” said Hikmahanto.
