Legal Research and Development of Science in the Field of Law in Indonesia
Faculty of Law Universitas Indonesia held a discussion on “Legal Research and Development of Science in the Field of Law” Monday (25/6) in Multimedia Room S & T FHUI, UI Depok Campus.
This discussion presented a researcher and observer of Indonesian law, Gregory Churchill, moderated by Prof. Dr. Dra. Sulistyowati Irianto, MA.
After decades of Indonesian independence, there are still many legal research topics that have not been researched into Indonesian law reform products. Unfortunately, these topics have not even become a concern in many research at major law colleges in Indonesia.
Dean of FHUI, Prof. Melda Kamil Ariadno, S.H., LL.M., Ph.D. welcomed Greg’s ideas and open approach in the discussion. The figure of Greg himself has been known by Prof. Melda Kamil Ariadno, S.H., LL.M., Ph.D. since she started her career as an assistant lecturer decades ago.
In her speech, Prof. Melda Kamil Ariadno, S.H., LL.M., Ph.D. encouraged the participants to think critically and openly. “We should need to open our minds that the methodology is not rigid,” Prof. said. Melda Kamil Ariadno, S.H., LL.M., Ph.D.
According to Prof. Melda Kamil Ariadno, S.H., LL.M., Ph.D. it is time for legal scholars from lecturers and researchers to develop law with emphasis to address the challenges and needs of a growing need of justice in society. In this case, she considered the dichotomy of the doctrinaire and sociolegal approach is no longer relevant.
