Fifty Lecturers of Criminal and Procedural Law from Nationwide Attend Workshop in FHUI
How can criminal law principles bridge the society development with criminal law enforcement? The question becomes one of the important issues that continue to emerge among the lecturers of criminal law and criminal procedure law. It is also a challenge for lecturers who play a role in bringing the knowledge of criminal law they have to contribute academically and in practice in the development of Indonesian law.
This motivation made the Study Field of Criminal Law Faculty of Law Universitas Indonesia hold Workshop for Lecturers of Criminal Law and Criminal Procedure Law entitled “Criminal Law of Indonesia: Principle and Development”. The workshop held on 17-20 July 2018 at UI Depok Campus which became a scientific forum to discuss how criminal law principles contribute to the ideal formulation of criminal law, especially in the context of the Criminal Code draft currently under deliberations of the House of Representative and the government.
The workshop was attended by fifty lecturers of criminal law and criminal procedure law from various universities in Indonesia. The participants intensively obtain material for the deepening of criminal law principles. The participants discussed various themes in contemporary criminal law such as “Justice Collaborator and Whistle Blower”, “Restorative Justice, Divertion, and Penal Mediation “, as well as “Beneficiary Owners in Corporate Crime.”
This forum was also an opportunity to develop capacity and competence as a lecturer so that participants can improve their expertise in cognitive level. Participants can also open opportunities for collaborative research with criminal law lecturers who are participants in this workshop.

This workshop is a follow-up program of “National Workshop of Criminal Law Principles” which was held by the Study Field of Criminal Law Studies Faculty of Law Universitas Indonesia on 4-7 May 2015. According to the Head of Criminal Law Study of FHUI, Dr. Surastini Fitriasih, SH, MH, this workshop was expected to be an annual event organized by the Study Field of Criminal Law as one of the contributions in supporting the development of Indonesian law.
