FHUI and HuMA Sign Cooperation Agreement
Tuesday (12/01/2019), the Faculty of Law, Universitas Indonesia signed an agreement with the Association for Community-Based and Ecological Legal Reform (Perkumpulan Untuk Pembaharuan Hukum Berbasis Masyarakat dan Ekologis—HuMA) in Poernadi Room Building A FHUI, UI Depok Campus.
The signing was carried out by the Vice Dean of Resources, Venture and Public Administration Parulian Paidi Aritonang, S.H., LL.M., MPP. and Representatives from HuMA.
In the agreement, both parties agreed to develop cooperation in the academic field in order to strengthen the knowledge capacity of law students and strengthen access to justice for the Indigenous Law community.
There are several objectives of this cooperation agreement, among others are strengthening the capacity of teachers and students from FHUI, strengthening the capacity of HuMA members and researchers, and strengthening access of indigenous people to justice.
The form of program activities that will be carried out is a Public Lecture on customary law communities in FHUI, public discussion about revisions to the Forestry Law and the Draft Law on Customary Law according to academic values, Implementation of Student Internships at HuMA, Training of research methods with sociolegal perspectives for members and researchers of HuMA, Training on legal reasoning for HuMA members and researchers, Research and socialization activities in order to strengthen the protection of indigenous peoples’ rights in cooperation with HuMA and FHUI lecturers and students, Preparation and implementation of national seminars and international conferences on customary law communities, Preparation of annotations related to decisions case of customary law communities, Development of Women’s and Children’s Legal Clinic and Environmental Law Clinic, and Strengthening capacity, knowledge and cooperation in development programs for the welfare of Customary Law Communities.
