Tuesday, February 26, 2019, Located in the Boedi Harsono Room of the Faculty of Law, Universitas Indonesia, UI Depok Campus, a Discussion on the Thoughts of Professor Prof. Dr. Arifin P. Soeria Atmadja, S.H “Government Shutdown in the United States and Its Reflection on the Budgeting Process in Indonesia” was held by presenting the Main Speaker Dr. Machfud Sidik, M.Sc., who is an Economic Expert who served as Director General of Taxes (2000-2001), Director General of Central and Regional Financial Balance (2001-2004), and Director General of State Receivables and Auctions (2004-2006 ), as well as three other speakers, namely Dr. Yuli Indrawati, S.H., LL.M., Dr. Dian Puji Nugraha Simatupang, S.H., M.H., and Henry Darmawan Hutagaol, S.H., LL.M.
Prof. Arifin Prijatna Soeria Atmadja was a thinker and academic in state budget law and public finance in Indonesia who was born 94 years ago, precisely February 14, 1925. The contribution of his ideas gave color to the discipline of developing the theory of state finance law.
Until the end of his life, Prof. Arifin was still dedicating his knowledge by filing a judicial review of Law Number 19 of 2003 to the Constitutional Court, which decision was set on September 18, 2013. However, before the verdict was read on August 22, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. afternoon, Prof. Arifin had already first passed away after carrying out the dzuhur prayer at the Mosque in Borobudur Hotel, Jakarta. Until now, Prof. Arifin has been known as the only Professor of Public Finance Law in Indonesia.
