Corruption Case of PT DPS’s Vessel Will Be Tried Immediately
A case of alleged corruption in the procurement of floating crane vessel PT Dok and Perkapalan Surabaya (PT DPS) worth Rp 100 billion was immediately submitted to the court. This means that in the near future this case can be tried.
“For the suspect Antonius Aris Saputra, he has been prosecuted. We plan to submit it to the Court next week,” said the Head of the Legal Information Section (Kasi Penkum) at the East Java High Prosecutor’s Office, Richard Marpaung, Thursday (3/21).
He added, the suspect, Antonius Aris Saputra, a partner of PT DPS had undergone Phase II (submission of suspects and evidence). Meanwhile, for the suspect of the former Managing Director of PT DPS, Riry Syeried Jetta, Richard claimed he was still carrying out the filing, because the suspect submitted mitigating witnesses.
These three mitigating witnesses were Prof. Dr. Nindyo Pramono and Prof. Dr. Markus Priyo Gunarto, as Professor of the Faculty of Law, Gadjah Mada University (UGM) Yogyakarta, and Prof. Hikmahanto Juwana, Professor of International Law at the University of Indonesia (UI).
“Yes, (they are) still submitting mitigating witnesses,” he explained.
When confirmed about the addition of suspects in this case, Richard claimed to still continue to be explored by Special Criminal Investigators (Pidsus) of East Java High Public Prosecutor’s Office.
“It continues to be explored (additional suspects). This case will be developed again, because from the results of the audit of the Audit Board of the Republic of Indonesia (Badan Pemeriksa Keuangan—BPK), the state loss from this case is more than Rp. 60 billion,” he said.
To be noted, the investigation of this case began when a report from the Audit Board (BPK) was published, which stated that there was an alleged state loss of Rp. 60 billion from the vessel procurement project which worth Rp. 100 billion. The project for the procurement of floating vessel types occurred in 2016.
Procurement of this vessel has gone through an auction process. The vessel has been paid for Rp. 60 billion from the price of Rp. 100 billion. In the auction mentioned, the vessel procurement was in the form of second-hand vessel.
The vessel was imported from countries in Europe. However, when delivered to Indonesia the ship sank in the middle of its delivery. From here then there was an allegation that, there was a wrong specification in the procurement of the vessel.
