Lecturer of Faculty of Law Universitas Indonesia, Dr. Lidwina Inge Nurtjahyo, S.H., M.Si, has become a speaker on “Data Privacy: Challenges and its Variety of Perspectives” at Univeritas Gadjah Mada, Yogyakarta, (12/03/2020). In this event, Dr. Lidwina Inge talked about “Privacy and Gender”.
Data privacy has been recognized as a fundamental aspect of the protection of the right to privacy of a person. the protection of the right to privacy of a person can be found in article 28G paragraph (1) the 1945 constitution, article 17 Civil and Political Rights Convention (has been ratified by the Indonesian Government from UU No. 12 Tahun 2005) and Article 12 Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Because of it, to make sure the protection of privacy rights, there is an urgency for comprehensive personal data protection regulations. Until November 2019, there are at least 130 countries that already have a Personal Data Protection Act (David Banisar, 2019).
