12.2.1 Ethical sourcing policy
Have a policy on ethical sourcing of food and supplies
FHUI has continues to implement programs on ethical sourcing of food and supplies through Rector’s Regulation number 057 in 2017 regarding Implementation of Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Aspect on Universitas Indonesia’s Canteen. In the second clause, UI commits to implement HSE aspects in the entire food and supplies ecosystem, especially canteens. On the fourteenth clause, UI consistently demonstrates how food and beverage handling must comply with the hygiene, food safety, and food packaging requirements to be used. Furthermore, all the ingredients that are used have to be registered from the Ministry of Health.
12.2.3 Policy waste disposal – hazardous materials
Have a policy on waste disposal – Covering hazardous materials
Waste is a classic problem that often arises in our daily lives. The campus as an institution / institution whose main function is to organize the process of education and teaching, research and community service, of course, in all its activities it is inseparable from the use of quite a lot of paper and even tends to be very wasteful. In addition to campus paper, it also produces waste or waste, both organic and non-organic waste from laboratories and canteens that produce food / beverage waste. This will have an impact on increasing the volume of waste/waste.
This increase in waste/waste production is very triggering for climate change and is expected to be even greater if there is no effort to reduce it. The two largest chemical compounds that contribute to the occurrence of global warming are carbon dioxide (CO2) and methane (CH4) gases. Both compounds are mostly produced from garbage. Therefore, in the campus environment, it is necessary to manage waste appropriately and wisely by applying the concept of 4 R (Reduce, Recycle, Reuse and Repair or Recovery). The University of Indonesia already has a policy on waste and waste management on campus, namely with the Decree of the Rector of the University of Indonesia Nomor: 1305/SK/ R/UI/2011 about the policy of managing waste and waste containing hazardous and toxic materials (B3) at the University of Indonesia campus which was established on June 20, 2011.
To realize waste and waste management in FHUI, FHUI has carried out various applications, namely:
Almost all units at FHUI already have a paper shredder that functions for waste management because in addition to being able to destroy important documents, it also helps reduce the volume of paper waste, so that more paper waste is accommodated before sending it to the disposal site.
After going to the paper tear dump is also good for compost so, in addition to reducing the use of styrofoam which is difficult to be destroyed by bacteria, it also contributes to making the soil more fertile. Companies can also choose the option to recycle waste paper from paper shredders
At FHUI, there is a garbage shelter as the last stop before being transported by a garbage truck that will be processed at the University of Indonesia Landfill (TPS).
But previously, these wastes have been separated between paper waste, organic waste, plastic waste and bottle waste in the trash cans available in the FHUI environment.
This bottle waste will be collected and reprocessed by collectors while organic waste will be processed by TPS UI.
Other policy related to the management of hazardous material is Rector Decree No. 1306/SK/R/UI 2011 which stated about Restriction on Food and Beverage Packaging Containing Toxic and Hazardous Material (B3) on The Campus of Universitas Indonesia.

12.2.4 Policy waste disposal – landfill policy
Have a policy on waste disposal – to measure the amount of waste sent to landfill and recycled
Faculty of Law UI has continued to implement programs on waste disposal management according to Rector of Universitas Indonesia Decree No. 2893/SK/R/UI/2018 on Universitas Indonesia Green Campus Policy (UI Green Campus Plan). Segregation and measurement of plastic and non-plastic waste has been routinely carried out by the cleaning service and Health, Safety, Security and Environment unit (UPT K3L) in FKUI from 2018 until now.
12.2.5 Policy for minimisation of plastic use
Have policies around use minimisation of plastic
Faculty of Law UI committed to minimize the plastic waste in the faculty environment through the Rector Regulation No. 4 year 2019 about the Zero Plastic Program in Environment of Universitas Indonesia. This program aims to minimize the use/utilization of products, goods or services that cause plastic waste. One of the programs is encouragement to the student and staff to bring their lunch box to decrease plastic consumption. Dean of FHUI made regulations regarding the prohibition of platic waste. No. 47 Tahun 2020. The decree contains some suggestions: – to reuse old paper – to use private drinking establishments – to provide meeting consumption without the use of disposable packaging.

12.2.6 Policy for minimisation of disposable items
Have policies around use minimisation of disposable items
Faculty of Medicine UI has attempted to minimize the disposable items according to several UI’s policies including:
12.2.7 Disposable policy: extensions to services
Ensuring these policies extend to outsourced services and the supply chain
Several policies about the use of plastic, paper, hazardous and toxic Materials (B3) for Food and Beverage Packaging are extended to outsourced services and the supply chain. These policies stated that the implementation of the program must be carried out by all civitas academica, partnering parties, faculty canteens, and other parties in UI:
12.2.8 Minimisation policies extended to suppliers (revised for Impact 2021)
Ensuring these policies extend to outsourced suppliers and the supply chain – (suppliers of equipment, stationary, building contracts)?
Several policies about the use of plastic, paper, hazardous and toxic Materials (B3) for Food and Beverage Packaging are extended to outsourced services and the supply chain. These policies stated that the implementation of the program must be carried out by all civitas academica, partnering parties, faculty canteens, and other parties in UI:
12.3.1 Waste tracking
Measure the amount of waste generated and recycled across the university
Faculty of Law UI has performed the waste tracking by measurement of the amount of waste generated and recycled. After the implementation of the policy on reducing plastic waste and paper waste, it was reported that there was a significant decrease in the amount of this type of waste at the Faculty of Law UI.
12.3.2. Proportion of waste recycled
