Course DescriptionsThis course covers commercial papers or negotiable instruments, documents known as waarde papieren in Dutch, which are considered as payment devices. The documents have special legal status that enables them to flow freely through commercial networks. Negotiable instruments can be used for both credit and payment purposes. For example, a promissory note evidencing a promise to repay money owed is a credit instrument. A check written to pay dues is a payment instrument. The main legal bases of these Commercial Papers are the Indonesian Commercial Code and several laws related to certain types of commercial paper issued by the Bank of Indonesia (Indonesia Central Bank).
